Gas
Tips 1 - Maintaining a constant speed will also help
you get more MPG out of your tank. Everyone knows that stop
and go traffic is murder on your gas mileage, well so is accelerating
and decelerating constantly. So set your cruise control or get
in line with a group of cars or trucks going the same speed
as you.

Tips 2 - Be sure to check the air pressure in your tires.
Tires with low pressure can greatly affect your gas mileage.
Check your owner's to find the proper pressure levels for your
car and then test your tire's when cold using a tire gauge.

Tips 3 - Extra features on your car can also cause your
fuel efficiency to be lowered. When possible, try not to use
the air conditioner and heat as much because these functions
lower the performance of your car and thus require more fuel
be expended.
Gas
Tips 4 - Don't put the pedal to the metal. Your gas mileage
decrease the faster you go. So if you have a long trip ahead
of you, try driving the speed limit and saving some bucks at
the fuel pump.
Gas
Tips 5 - Smooth accelerations put less stress on your transmission
and help boost your cars gas mileage. Shooting off from the
line by the driver can cause the transmission to rev high thus
causing the car to need more fuel to perform at the higher levels,
so be sure to accelerate smoothly.
Gas
Tips 6 - Keeping with extra features, external add-ons can
also greatly reduce your car's performance. Bigger tires and
wheels may look better but if they're bigger than what you vehicle
calls for then you may be lowering your gas mileage due to rolling
resistance. Be sure to keep the original tires if you upgrade,
because on long trips they will provide a better ride and more
gas to the gallon.

Tips 7 - Keep your car nice and tidy. The more unnecessary
weight that your car is forced to carry than the less proficiency
you will get from it. Remove any garbage or extra items that
you don't need for your trip and you will experience better
MPG.
Gas
Tips 8 - Always check your air filter as a filthy filter
will restrict the air flow through the engine. This will lower
the car's performance and thus cause it to need more fuel to
reach its normal performance levels.
Gas
Tips 9 - Saving an old car that is great on gas mileage
can vastly help you save money in times where gas prices spike.
Especially if you own a large truck or SUV, having a smaller,
more economical second car can help alleviate the pinch at the
gas pumps for short periods until the prices fall once again.
Gas
Tips 10 - The most obvious way to save on fuel is to not
drive. If your destination is close by then take a walk or ride
a bike. Also, try carpooling or other alternate methods of transportation
such as taking the bus or train.
