TIPS

Skateboard
Tips 1 - When starting out skateboarding it is very
important to make sure you have the right gear in order to prevent
injury. Skate shoes are a must as they have a thick, flat sole
that provides more cushion and better grip. Skaters should always
wear a helmet along with knee pads. The helmet and pads are
the number one way to prevent serious injury while skateboarding.
You can also wear elbow pads and/or wristbands for added protection.

Tips 2 - Before you can be the next Tony Hawk, you must
first become comfortable with your board. At first, simply stand
on the skateboard while in a patch of grass or on the carpet
in your house. Get used to the feel of the board underneath
you. Move your feet around to different positions on the board
including putting all of your weight on either end of the skateboard
at one time. Once you get used to the size and feel of your
board beneath you, you can move on to more advanced skateboarding
techniques and tricks.
Skateboard
Tips 3 - Much like in baseball where you have to determine
whether you bat/throw right-handed or left-handed, in skateboarding
you have to decide whether you are going to lead with your left
foot (called the Regular stance) or right foot (called the Goofy
stance). When standing on the board, see which way feels more
natural to you. You want your stronger, more dominant foot to
be your back foot.
Skateboard
Tips 4 - Next, you will need to learn how to push. This
is the primary way of starting your motion on a skateboard form
a standstill. Always use your back foor to push as it is the
regarded proper method. There are different styles of pushing
that can be learned after the basic push has been mastered.
Skateboard
Tips 5 - After learning how to push, you will need to know
how to turn. The best way to turn is to really bend your knees
to get low and then turn your board using your feet. This is
one of the basic skills that will help you when learning more
advanced skateboarding tricks.
Skateboard
Tips 6 - When learning how to skateboard, start with one
of the easiest of all the tricks called the Ollie. It is the
groundwork for most of the more advanced tricks and makes sense
to learn early. Once you master the Ollie, you'll be able to
conquer other skateboarding tricks much easier.
Skateboard
Tips 7 - Skate smartly. Mistakes by yourself may not only
hurt you but can hurt others in the area. Avoid colliding with
other skaters. Don't perform dangerous stunts that are above
your skill level in an attempt to show off. Be mindful of where
other skaters are and try to give them room to skate and do
their own tricks.
Skateboard
Tips 8 - Footbraking: Start slow when learning how to footbrake.
DO NOT try this while moving at a fast speed. Work your way
up to a faster speed to prevent falling and injury.
Start off
by turning your toes to face the nose (front) of the board.
Your chest should also be facing toward the front. Put all your
weight onto your front foot as you keep your back leg straight
and slowly lower it to the ground. Basically, all your weight
should be on your front leg, while keeping your body centered
and dragging your back foot to slow yourself down. Applying
light pressure will slow you down more gradually, while heavier
pressure will slow you down quickly.
Skateboard
Tips 9 - As with everything in life, practic makes perfect.
Repeating the skateboarding tricks over and over is the only
true way to master the techniques. Start with a few of the basic
tricks and, once you've got those down, add a more advanced
trick to your repetoire. Make sure you practice properly and
nail the correct method of doing each trick. If you practice
incorrectly, then you will preform the tricks incorrectly.
Skateboard
Tips 10 - It's easiest to practice on carpet or grass to
keep your skateboard from rolling while getting used to your
new tricks. Of course some people find it easier to learn skateboard
tricks while moving. Just remember; you fall a lot when first
learning new tricks.
Skateboard
Tips 11 - First off before you can start, you have to make
sure you know manualing is quite dangerous so wear the right
gear whenever skateboarding. So you first have to stand on your
skateboard and try to concentrate on your balance so you have
to pick up the right speed not too fast. You dont want to get
hurt so knees bent back leg pushing down on tail front leg not
pushing the front of board and keeping ur balance remember practice
makes perfect!!!!!
Skateboard
Tips 12 - Next is the ollie wich is a harder trick on your
first try. if you are regular (left foot on top and right in
back) Your left foot should be positioned a little under the
bolts and your right foot should be at the end of the tail.
then practice snapping the tail to the ground until you feel
comfterble with this then practice sliding. you can practice
sliding by snapping but leave your tail on the ground then slide
your front foot up untill you feel comfortable with that. then
snap the tail untill you hear it click on the ground, slide your
front foot up and suck your knees up and land and bend your
knees on the landing to absorb the impact. if you are a goofy
skater switch left to right and right to left where i say them.
remember practic makes perfect!!!! - jack
Skateboard
Tips 13 - A lot of people forgot one thing is to think with
the board what i meen is that you have to think with the trick
you r trying to do cause the wrong is not from the the wrong
is from you so try to think with board say in yourmind what
im doing wrong and correct the wrong this way is better you
can get the tricks fast so remember while your practicing to
think with you board.- ayham
Skateboard
Tips 14 - Are you trying to ollie big thing or gaps and
you cant cause you are afraid well your gona learned them now,ok
when you want to ollie gaps and you are afraid the best thing
is when you ollie dont looke down or where your gona land when
you ollie you need to looke at your board cause if you dont
you looke down your not gona land it cause you are afraid so
the best thing is to looke at your board and not where you gona
land good luck - ayham
